No knowledge of my own to impart, just a recommendation that you check out http://www.satisfice.com/blog/archives/141 and http://www.buccaneerscholar.com/.
The first is a Very Good article on context-driven testing and best practices by James Bach and the second is his new site on creative thinking, which looks like it’s going to be Killer. I dare you to go out there and tell me you don’t want one of those 15-dollar mugs. In fact, I double-dog dare you. I myself am contemplating getting a dead, stuffed parrot to ride on my shoulder and to start wearing an eyepatch.
I think 2009 is going to be a great year….

And by the way, my apologies for not including the live links. I've been "working" on getting live links to work in these posts for months; it's dicey at best.

Linda,
Why are you wasting you 25 years worth of QA/QC experience on writing about one individual that too with a negative mind set?
I am sure you have many interesting things to write (other than James Bach) ...
Shrini Kulkarni
I thought the article on best practices was excellent and that the new blog was both exciting and fun. The tongue-in-cheek logo (a skull and crossbones with a mortar board) appealed strongly to me and I would think it will appeal strongly to a great many others. EVERYONE is going to want to be a buccaneer-scholar. I did.
I do not consider it a "waste of 25 years worth of QA/QC experience" to recommend either one of these things. The only "negativity" involved is your own.
Now take a few deep breaths and LET IT GO, Shrini. This is the third time you've frothed at me and sorry as I am that my blogs turn you into a crazed bucket of vitriol, I feel you need to get yourself under control. Your last set of comments were so obnoxious that not even I, who posts pretty much everything, would publish it. It's not enough to read, Shrini, you also have to comprehend. You make too many assumptions, most of which are wrong, and you don't ask enough questions.
Did you read my blog on frothing? You could learn something from that, if you were so inclined.
Regardless, I hope you get your blood pressure under control, hang out with some people you enjoy, and wish you the best of luck with your own career.

Happy New Year, Linda!
Before I even went to the buccaneer site, I thought, "Let me guess - he's a rebel now too".
Why was I not surprised? When will the pictures be posted of him in his leathers sitting on his Harley?
I do love his statement, "We construct truth and meaning for ourselves". I will have to make sure to point that out to people when they next urge me to join the school.
Happy New Year!
One of the things I genuinely admire about James Bach is his ability to market himself and his ideas. The romanticism and appeal wrapped around the idea of a buccaneer-scholar is almost irresistable. In my opinion, Mr. Bach is going to be able to tie up his dreadlocks, don his leathers, and ride that Harley, laughing, all the way to the bank. I'm planning to read his book, will probably be out at least 30 bucks, and will be joining the pillaged and plundered watching him roar by on his crotch rocket...
